Moorpark’s first senior assisted-living community opens

Moorpark’s first senior assisted-living community opened earlier this month.
Oakmont of Moorpark at 13960 Peach Hill Road has 82 studio, one-bedroom and two-bedroom apartments and various amenities.
“We are thrilled to be the first senior living community in Moorpark and are excited to welcome our residents to their new home,” said Oakmont’s Executive Director Stephanie Funderburg.
The community, which opened July 5, will assist seniors with a variety of needs, including eating, showering and getting dressed, as well as those with memory issues, Oakmont officials say.
The facility also features a wellness and fitness center, movie theater, library and indoor-outdoor spaces to accommodate a variety of activities.
Residents have access to chauffeur service, a concierge medicine program and an activities calendar that includes on-site educational, social and recreational programs, as well as off-property group excursions.
Its grounds include courtyards, gardens and a pet park.
A separate section of the community houses seniors with severe memory problems and offers virtual reality technology that can help them recall their fading pasts and enhance brain function, according to Oakmont.
